Building Deep Rapport is the next step after Attraction but a lot more important...

I normally spend a lot of time talking about
attraction, and with good reason, that's
where most guys SCREW IT UP with women.

Remember, if she isn't attracted within THREE
minutes, it ain't gonna happen.

But today, I want to talk about something
that is even MORE powerful than attraction.

Listen, attraction is fleeting. By that I
mean it happens quickly. In fact, it can
happen in the BLINK of an eye!

Think about how this works for you...
anytime you see a cute girl, you are
attracted. IMMEDIATELY!

If you are driving, you forget about the road
for at least a few seconds.

If you are talking with your boss, or even
another woman... you will be distracted
and look.

Anytime you are in public where there are
cute women, you are attracted... again
and again.

This is nothing new, it's the way guys are
wired.

What's important here is to realize how
quickly your attraction VANISHES.

How fast does it happen? As soon as the NEXT
cute girl enters your field of view.

You LOCK ON and give her a good look (guys
are visual) then think about just how much
fun you could have and... well I'll leave the
rest to your vivid x-rated imagination.

What happened to the attraction for the last
girl? Or the one before that? Or the girls
from the day before... last week... last
month?

GONE! Out of sight out of mind. No more
attraction. Fast as it happened, it
disappeared.

That's what I mean by 'attraction is
fleeting'. And get used to hearing this,
because IT'S important.

So, what the hell has this got to do with
women?

Pay Attention! I really want you to GET THIS
next point, it'll all make sense to you then.

It's the SAME for WOMEN!

One of the HUGE myths guys have about women
is that somehow attraction is completely
DIFFERENT for them.

After coaching thousands of men, it became
painfully obvious that guys are just plain
STUMPED at how attraction works for a woman.

When I tell my clients that attraction is
much more SIMILAR for women than different,
they look at me like I have two-heads.

Listen, I can back up what I say with real
world evidence, but I don't want to get into
that now.

The point is, women are attracted to men ALL
day long, it can happen in an INSTANT and is
gone just as quickly.

Attraction is FLEETING (told you I'd say it a
lot), and thus it's NOT that powerful.

Think about it, if attraction were really
powerful, you would chase down every woman
you saw.

You'd screech your car to a halt and set out
on foot to meet any woman that caught your
eye!

I'll bet that never happens for you, and
I think it's a very safe bet.

Listen, there's more I can say on this topic,
lots more. For now, just burn what I said
into your memory.

Because I want to get to the Secret Weapon of
Pickup that makes attraction look like a
98-pound weakling.

It's the one thing that when you are good at it
will reduce your flaking rate to ZERO.

The one thing that gives a woman the "He
swept me off my feet experience" that she
will ALWAYS remember.

The one thing that allows a woman to give
herself PERMISSION to sleep with you.

And The one thing that when you are good at
it, gives you the confidence that she will
NEVER cheat on you.

Does this sound like something you would like

Make no mistake, I'm not talking about being
friendly with the office staff kind of rapport,
I'm talking about DEEP CONNECTION rapport.

Rapport so intense that in less than twenty
minutes she feels like you looked into her SOUL.

This isn't about bullshit GAMES. There is no
way you can FAKE this kind of experience.

That's what makes it so POWERFUL, because
it's REAL for both of you.

Women DREAM of having this type of
experience.

If you don't believe me, spend an hour in
your local bookstore reading romance novels.

And let me share a secret with you... most
women will NEVER have the romance novel
experience, because men FEAR connecting with
a woman.

There are a lot of men learning how to
trigger attraction in a woman.

There are so few learning how to build DEEP
RAPPORT with a woman, that in the scheme of
things, it's virtually ZERO.

Can you imagine how a woman would respond to
you if you could give her this experience?

Let's fact it, rapport is the difference that
makes the difference with a woman.

Get good at attraction, and sure you'll have
a lot of FUN. Girls will giggle and laugh
and be all over you when you first meet them.

But, learn how to build a deep rapport with a
woman, and you will get her hotter than a
firecracker on the 4th of July.

Don't get me wrong... you still need
attraction, and then you shift into rapport.

Probably the BIGGEST MISTAKE guys new to
learning attraction skills make, is to keep
running attract material.

You have to TEST for attraction (you do
remember the foolproof test right?), and then
ISOLATE and ease into RAPPORT.

Remember: Rapport is where the seduction is
WON or LOST!

USING COLD READING TO BUILD RAPPORT

Lance Mason explains what cold reading is and how it can help you to really get a women's attention. This is fascinating stuff.

Just about everyone will agree that rapport is important anytime you have an interaction with another person. If you think about it, it’s kind of a no-brainer. Who likes to spend time around someone that is being obnoxious? Maybe some of the whacked out street people in San Francisco do, people I know like to spend time with people that make them feel comfortable.

People Like People Who Are Like Themselves

Rapport is pretty simple when you understand the tendency to like and feel COMFORT around those people who are similar to you. There are theories that say it goes back to our days of living in tribes and clans, and was a way to recognize threats to the clan. That may be true, but all that really matters is to understand if you want a woman to feel comfortable with you, you’ll need to build rapport with her.

The opposite is true as well. If you want to drive someone away, break rapport with them. There are times when this can be useful, but I would recommend you practice building rapport first… you’ll get a lot more mileage out of that.

Methods For Building Rapport

There are people who seem to be naturals at building rapport. These people were modeled using the methods of Nuero Linguistic Programming (NLP), and a lot of different techniques were discovered.

Many of these use a method known as Mirroring and Matching. To do this you must be able to calibrate the other person, moving your body like they do, speaking like they do, and even timing your breathing to theirs.

These techniques work well, since this is what normally happens when two people are in rapport. The challenge with these methods is that it takes a lot of practice to be able to do them without being detected.

It also takes a while to be able to do them without being distracted from the conversation going on. Since mirroring and matching will usually happen naturally once you already have rapport, you are better off finding an easier way to build rapport and let nature take it’s course.

A Simple Method

An easier method is to find out things about the person that you both have in common. This can be done easily inside of a fun and fascinating conversation. The more you have in common, the faster rapport will develop.

Think about a time when you met someone and found out they were from your home town. How quickly did that change how you felt about them? I’ve had the experience of being on the other side of the planet and running into someone from the USA. It might be the case that normally I wouldn’t spend time with them, but it feels good just to speak your own language and share the culture you have in common for a brief moment in time.

That’s rapport.

A Fun Way To Find Commonalities

When you have a woman you want to build trust and comfort with, a really fun way for both of you to build rapport, is to use cold reading as a way to find out what you have in common.

There are some key benefits to using cold reading as opposed to everyday conversation.

- People usually won’t resist cold reads since they are ambiguous, yet sound true to the listener
- She will feel like you understand her, so she will open up even more to you.
- It’s easy to get her talking about things she doesn’t even tell her best friends
- You will quickly find out things you share in common, by pointing these out you’ll build rapport quickly with her. You’ll ‘connect’ with her on a deeper level.

What Is Cold Reading

Cold reading is a technique used by salespeople, interrogators and psychics to convince other people that they know more about them than they actually do. Generally, the cold reader will make a series of vague statements, will observe their reaction, and then will refine the original statements based on the reactions they got.

If you have ever read a newspaper horoscope and felt that it was accurate, you have experienced a cold read type of statement.

The reason that it works so well, is because of the use of ambiguities… basically statements which can have multiple meanings. When a person hears such a word or statement, their mind will fill in the meaning from their own personal experience. Thus it seems to be a true statement about them.

In NLP there is a method of speaking in ambiguities called the Milton Model, named after one of the most famous hypnotists Milton Erickson. When modeling Erickson’s hypnosis it was discovered that he used ambiguities in language to not only build rapport, but to put people into a suggestive state (trance). So you might realize that cold reading is also hypnotic.

Different Types Of Cold Reading Used In Pickup

There are two distinct types of cold reading that can be used in pickup. The first type really aren’t cold reads for getting rapport, they are a modified version used to build attraction. Some people call these mini-cold reads.

Mini-Cold Reads For Attraction

Basically these are playful teasing comments, often that don’t make a lot of sense, but are a fun way to escalate sexual tension through banter.

Examples:

- “You and I would never get along.”
- “You’re a bad girl, my mother warned me about girls like you.”
- “You’re a shy girl aren’t you? You guys need to get her out more.”
- “You’re like Velma on Scooby Doo, always trying to figure things out.”
- “You guys are trouble.”

WARNING: If you do this at the wrong time you will destroy rapport and blow any chance you had with her. There is an art to playful banter, and part of that art is knowing when it’s time to drop it.

Cold Reading To Build Rapport

In rapport phase you want to use these to have her feel like you really understand her and so she will open up to you. You’ll need to be a very good listener during this process so when you hear a commonality, you can point it out to her so she realizes it. Otherwise she won’t notice.

Use this as a tool for a deep and intimate conversation, women dream about meeting a man who can talk with them in this way.

Utilize a mixture of general statements and subtle leading questions to gain information on the subject by either verbal or non-verbal means (such as tone of voice, facial expressions, body language, etc).

Example: Using The Cube as a framework for cold reading. CR = Cold Read

PUA: where is your cube located
HB: it’s floating in the air, above the horizon
PUA (CR): Some of your ideas tend to be a bit unrealistic
HB: OMG, that’s so true. I have these ideas… and when I tell my friends they say I’m a total dreamer, all the time.. blah blah
PUA: That’s too funny, my friends tell me the same thing when I tell them about… blah blah

What if she didn’t agree or was neutral (you have to calibrate the tone of her voice and body language)

HB: Ummmm, I guess so
PUA:(CR) Fortunately, you are a person who has learned her strengths and limitations, so you seldom take on a project which you aren’t sure you can complete.
HB: Yes. Exactly! Even since I was a kid I won’t do things that I’m not sure I can do. People know me as the practical one. When we plan our trips to Costa Rica they always come to me to make sure it will get done.
PUA: Costa Rica is where I had my most amazing travel experience… (story) I think it’s my favorite country.

11 Commonly Used Cold Reads

This is a list of the 11 most commonly used cold reads by psychics. If you memorize these you really won’t need any others. You can mix and match them based on the context.

1) You have a strong need for others to like and admire you.

2) You have a tendency to be critical of yourself.

3) You have a great deal of unused capacity which you have not turned to your advantage.

4) Your past relationships have presented problems for you.

5) You can be disciplined and controlled on the outside, and worrisome and insecure on the inside.

6) You sometimes doubt your own decisions.

7) You like change and variety and don’t like to be hemmed in by restrictions and limitations.

8) You are independent minded and need proof before accepting others opinions.

9) You have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others.

10) At times you are extroverted and sociable, while at others you are introverted and reserved.

11) Some of your aspirations tend to be pretty unrealistic.

You don’t have to use this exact wording, but the structure is important. Example: #10 could be restated as “There are times when you are very energetic and outgoing, and other times you just like to chill.” Note that you can open any of these statements with “You know, I’ve got an intuition about you…”

Wrap Up

There are many different ways to build rapport, and using cold reading is just one. Cold reading is powerful because it provides a way to get her to open up to you without her feeling like it’s an interview. Then you can find commonalities that you share so that she can bond with you.

It may also happen during this process, that you find out she’s not really a woman you want to spend time with. You’ll have saved a lot of time finding this out.

Practice the techniques of cold reading and you’ll get good at them quickly. You’ll be amazed at how women will open up to you.

Barry Bonds hit 715 and you can learn to meet that many women!!!

Yesterday Barry Bonds passed one of the most
popular American sports figures, Babe Ruth, and
wrote his name into the history books.

The San Francisco Chronicle headline this
morning was Bye Bye Babe!

Now I'm not a big fan of baseball, but I live
in San Francisco so it is BIG news here.

But no doubt newswires around the world have
this as one of the major stories today.

So what has this got to do with women?

Glad you asked.

You see, Barry Bonds has been under a media
shitstorm recently. I won't bore you with
details, but lets just say most of it isn't
positive.

Yet he never lost site of his goals. He
didn't stop doing whatever it takes to get
there.

Most men would have crumbled under the
pressure. Hell there have been men who have
had historic meltdowns when the media was on
their side.

But Barry knows what he wants, he doesn't let
the pressure, the negative feedback, and
being under the microscope of the public get
in his way.

And he makes it look easy!

You can call it courage, call it commitment,
whatever, Mr. Bonds is a world class example
of having solid INNER GAME.

Listen, I know for many men, approaching a
woman they don't know in a club, or in a
grocery store, FEELS like they have this same
kind of pressure on them.

The reality is different, but for that guy in
that moment, it feels like the whole world is
watching and waiting for him to screw it up.

Now there won't be a stadium full of angry
fans booing if he gets rejected, but it can
FEEL that way.

Funny thing is, all of this comes from your
mind... it's not real.

Like the magazine reporter found out who took
my Art of Rapport workshop, not only is
meeting women FUN, but with the right MINDSET
getting rejected is not only fun it's also
FUNNY!

Now, I don't know what Barry Bonds does to
deal with his unique situation, but I'll bet
you my Mr. Bubbles shirt that he has made
more than one joke about how the guys writing
about him couldn't hit a baseball if it was
sitting on a tee.

And like all great athletes, he spends time
every day creating perfect performance in his
mind.

He focuses on what his success looks like, not
on all the things that can go wrong.

Remember, you are your biggest fan, but you
can also be your worst critic. And the
problem there is, when you start believing
what your inner critic says... it becomes
your reality.

If you imagine horrible rejections just from
approaching a woman you want to talk to, then
you'll FEEL all the unpleasant emotions as if
it were really happening.

If this sounds familiar, then you owe it to
yourself to spend time imagining success
instead of failure.

So next time you see a girl you want to meet,
before you talk yourself out of it, take a
moment and ask yourself... what would Barry
Bonds do?

Because if you don't walk over and talk to
her then, you might as well say Bye Bye Babe.

You'll never have that opportunity again!

Instead, I would rather you write me and
tell me how you walked over and said "Hi,
I just had to meet you, my name is...."

And just how much FUN you had doing that.

A Terrible Mistake That's Keeping You From Success With Women

Hi everyone,

I hope you're all doing well. Lately, I've been having a great time. It can be easy to get so worked up over normal, every day things -- like work, school, relationships, etc. -- that it's nice to every once and a while take a step back and unwind.

That's what I've been doing lately.

And it's been a great reminder to me that we shouldn't be taking life so seriously all the time.

In fact, being able to kick back like this is a key factor in being successful in life -- AND with women!

Allow me to explain.

Fun is an important factor in being successful. You have to actually ENJOY the journey you're taking if you want to achieve your goals in life.

For instance, if you want to be a pro golfer, but you HATE golfing, do you think you're going to stick to your goal? Or will you look for something more satisfying for you?

I'm willing to bet the answer to that is YES.

The same is true of meeting women.

If you want to have a beautiful girlfriend/wife/whatever, but you HATE the process of meeting women, are you really going to end up getting what you want?

I'm willing to bet the answer to that is NO.

I get emails on a daily basis from guys lamenting about how much they want to have a wonderful woman in their lives, but they always add to that "But I hate going to bars, clubs, bookstores, gas stations, public places, anywhere with actual living humans, etc. What can I do?"

I think some guys would just prefer to sit at home and look at naughty pictures of women on the internet than actually go out and meet real girls.

This is because they don't know how to make meeting women FUN.

And let's face it, if this is a chore, then you're not going to want to do it, right?

So let's role up our sleeves and get our hands dirty, because I want to tell you how to make meeting women something you actually can ENJOY doing as opposed to making it something you HATE doing and are reluctant to pursue.

The first thing I want you to think about is what kind of a woman it is that you want. What does she like? What is she interested in? What does she look like? The more you know about the woman you want, the easier it will be to filter out all the girls you DON'T want.

Remember, the narrower your search, the more happy you'll be with the results you get.

The second thing I want you to think about is where you can meet the kind of woman you want. Make a list of all the places you can think of where a woman who's interested in the kind of things you want her to be would go.

For instance, let's say you want a girl who loves baseball. Where would girls who love baseball go? Just off the top of my head, here's a list:

Major League Baseball Games
Minor League Baseball Games
Little League Baseball Games
Sports Bars On Game Day
Sporting Goods Stores
Baseball Conventions

The list could go on, but you get the idea. So if you love baseball, and you want a woman who loves baseball -- GO TO A BASEBALL GAME! And while you're there, meet the women who are there too! Use the other qualities you're looking for in a girl to pick and choose which women you want to meet.

At the very least, you're doing something you enjoy anyway, so you're going to have fun no matter what!

CRAIG SHARES WITH YOU HOW PICKUP101 WAS BORN AND WHAT IT CAN DO FOR YOU!

My name is Craig. I work with PickUp 101, not as
an instructor, but one of the 'behind the scenes'
people that makes things happen.

And just to be clear, I'm not the Craig on
Elimidate, or the Craig that was on the DYD interview
series, or the Craig of craigslist.org, but I have met
those guys, and they're pretty cool too. Good thing,
since they share my name!

The reason I'm writing you is I wanted to shed a
little light on what PickUp 101 is all about, and why
it is that a group of men (and women) would work so
hard to help other guys learn how to meet, attract, and
build strong relationships with women. Especially when
most of them work as volunteers.

Most of our instructors, all of our interns, and
our lovely wing-women, all who take time out of their
busy weekends to come to the workshop and make sure
guys 'get it' when it comes to women... do this as a
labor of love. In other words, they ain't here for the
money.

So how does this happen that so many people WANT to
be a part of this small business, and give up their
valuable time to help men like you?

Well, I can't speak for them personally, but here's
how it happened for me... About 4 years ago, I had a
crisis in my life, and as you might imagine that crisis
involved a woman.

Long story short, a few months later I found myself
as president of the San Francisco Bay Area Lair. In
case you don't know, a 'lair' is a group of guys who
get together and try to figure out how to meet women.

It was a great group of guys, but as far as skills
with women... it was the blind leading the blind.
There wasn't anyone in the group that really had any
skills with women.

We met for almost a year like this, and the group
grew but no one had much success. Guys were really
frustrated that we couldn't 'crack-the-code' and make
that transition to becoming ladies men.

Then one day a guy named Nate called me and told me
in a very excited way about this guy he met that was an
amazing natural and how we had to get him in the group.

And thus, Lance Mason was discovered for the first
time by guys wanting to know the skills for approaching
women.

A few weeks later I went out with Lance for the
first time and was absolutely stunned at how he knew
EVERYONE in the clubs we went to. Later I was shocked
to find out he didn't know ANY of them!

That's one of the subtleties of his approach, it
looks to anyone who watches like he's friends with
everybody in the group.

The funny thing is, everyone in the group also
figures that the OTHER people in the group know him,
and by the time anyone figures it out, they already
like him being there because he's fun and makes
everyone laugh and have a good time.

It's was absolutely amazing to watch him do this
over and over again. I would have bet a plane ticket
to Costa Rica that those people knew him.

Thing is, it wasn't long before all the guys in the
lair either saw him in action, or heard about it. We
finally had a 'natural' in our lair!

Guys began to go out with him, and then offer to
pay for his time. Soon he was overwhelmed with request
for guys willing to pay him for in-field coaching.

Lance asked me what I thought he should do, I said
"workshops", and PickUp 101 was born.

For the first year, it was just Lance and his
favorite wing Wilder teaching the workshops. Though it
wasn't long before the first workshop graduates got
really good, and they were brought in as instructors.

Suddenly, this wasn't a side project anymore...
PickUp 101 was becoming a full time business,
admittedly a small business run by a group of guys who
are much better with women than with calendars,
computers, accounting, and keeping track of orders.

I was invited in to help after the first year, and
in my still wet-behind-the-ears optimistic way, I
thought it would be easy to make this a 'real'
business. Nothing like a good dose of reality for
learning lessons.

Still I wouldn't change all the long hours, the
silly mistakes, and the challenges with keeping a
girlfriend happy when I'm constantly working, because
I've seen the results our clients get and that makes
it all worthwhile.

I've seen too many men who are so thankful for they
changes in their life after taking our workshop, that
they buy us much needed equipment out of their own
pocket as a way of saying thank you.

I've listened to the stories of men having such an
abundance of intelligent good looking women in their life
that the worst problem they have is getting sleep.

I've observed guys who come to us as Silicon Valley
Geeks, and come back a few months later to visit as
cool stylish guys who are finding great things
happening to them in addition to havine more choice
with women.

I've been grateful that men with high paying
careers would come and intern during workshops, take
out garbage, and clean up when it's all over, for no
pay just because they enjoy being a part of helping
that next group of guys find the success they now have.

I never forgot that first night out, and now that I
know what it is he does so well, I enjoy watching our
workshop clients the first night out in the field when
they see this same kind of demonstration from our
instructors.

Of course I love it even more when one of the
clients does it for himself and for the first time
experiences a hot woman being attracted to him in less
than 3 minutes (that's all it really takes).

I know that's why I'm a part of this young company,
we may not be perfect, but we make a HUGE impact on
people's lives, and it's not often you get to be a part
of something that makes a difference like that.

So I hope this help you to understand a bit about

THERE IS MORE TO MEETING WOMEN THAN JUST WORDS...

We have all heard the experts mention that words account for less than 10% of our communication with people. But, did you know that tone of voice accounts for 40% and posture and gesture 50%? Well, it is the truth and the fact of the matter is that it is no different when it comes to women. Check out what Lance writes about the subject:

I've got to get this off my chest before I explode!

I've been coaching men on how to meet women for
over 3 years now, and if I hear one more guy ask me
"what do I say when I open", I'm gonna go postal.

Listen, I know it's a common thing for guys who've
never studied anything about the game, but I know that
these days almost any guy that comes to a Pickup 101
workshop or seminar has at LEAST read David DeAngelo's
materials, so he should have something to say.

You see, what you say is almost irrelevant because
a woman has formed a first impression of you BEFORE you
ever open your mouth.

This concept of the first impression is extremely
important to understand and can boost your success by
65% or more.

Now clearly you can't go up and call her mother a
fat cow and expect she'll want to talk to you, it just
doesn't work that way.

But you can go up and open with something that is
almost pure nonsense and have it open easy as pie, as
long as you've got the attitude, your body language,
and appearance down.

Heck, we've had our instructors demonstrate opening
a set and not saying ANYTHING at all! It's not
recommended for beginners, but we'll do it sometimes to
prove this important point...

Opening Is More Than What You Say

I know this may go against a lot of "common
wisdom", but my experience has shown that if you don't
get the 5 Critical Elements of making a first
impression down... nothing you can say will matter.

In fact, when I'm in the field with my clients, I
can tell you whether he will successfully open the
woman BEFORE he ever get near her.

How do I do it? Simple... in the same way a woman
can read the signals men give off at a distance, I can
look at him and tell by checking the 5 critical points
as he walks over to her.

Probably the two most important of these are, the
way you carry yourself (body language) and the speed at
which you move.

I'll be talking a lot about body language in future
mailings as it's one of my specialities. For now let's
talk about the speed at which you move, since most guys
move way too fast.

Just think about it for a second... what happens
when you get nervous or put in a stressful situation?

Unless you're some kind of freak, you'll begin to
do all your movements much faster and that includes
your rate of speech. And your body will change too as
it tenses up.

My point is this: If I tell you to go open a group
and you're nervous... unless you've trained on how to
not show it (we teach this in our workshops), you'll be
moving faster than a jackrabbit across a busy highway
and you'll talk like you've just finished drinking a
triple espresso.

Part of this comes from your subconscious. It's
telling you to 'get it over with dude' so you can go
back to feeling comfortable again.

That's why on the first day of workshop you'll hear
this phrase over and over again:

SLOW DOWN

We have exercises where you'll be moving so slow it
feels like your walking neck deep through water, and it
still won't be slow enough.

The truth is, it may feel slow to you, but it's not
the case. But when you do, you'll look powerful AND
confident.

And here's the best part, you may be nervous as a
turkey before the holiday feast, but when you move
slowly... women won't know!

What's more, moving slow is something you can
practice EVERY DAY. Remember, meeting women is about
lifestyle, not one time techniques. So you should
practice the key elements ALL the time, including body
language, kino, banter, and storytelling. Don't just
save it for when you want to meet women.

Now go meet some women!

I've tried to pick up girls at bars and parties, but I'm just not a smooth talker. How important is it to have an arsenal of opening lines and suave bullshit?

Pick up lines are overrated-most of them are tacky and every woman knows it. It's really the deliver that counts. With the right delivery, a guy can use the tackiest line or even the stupidest line and still come off cool. Body language is as important as words when it comes to first impressions. Every woman wants a confident guy and a stable guy. Whether they admit it or not, every woman wants to stand next to a man who's gonna be her 911.

So what does this mean??? Well, according to Thundercat it doesn't really matter what lines you use as long as the lines get you to engage the women in conversation. Here guys, check this out:

What seperates "good pick up lines" from "bad pick up lines?"

Well, at the core, I guess you could say "Good pick up lines work, bad ones don't."

See, pick up lines have gotten a very bad reputation over the course of time. Every time some sleazy guy walks up to a girl in a movie, television show, or even real life, we're expecting him to say something dumb like:

"Your name must be Gillet, because you're the best a man could get."

"My favorite letters are F, C, and K. All that's missing is you."

"Why don't you come back to my place for some pizza and sex. What? You don't pizza?"

These are all obviously BAD pick up lines. They don't focus on getting to know the girl you're talking to. All they're meant to do is sound sleazy and offend people.

These are not "real" pick up lines.

Real pick up lines are good pick up lines, because they work.

I recently met a girl and went out for a bite to eat with her. When I told her what I did -- teach men how to meet women -- she said "Oh, that stuff would never work on me."

Then I replied "How is it I met you?"

And she said "You came up and asked my opinion about something."

Then I smiled and said "See? It did work."

She then argued that that's not really a pick up line! But the cold, hard fact is that a good pick up line is ANYTHING that will get a girl into a conversation with you.

It could be as simple as "Hey, what's your name?"

It doesn't matter. All that matters is that the line you use leads to a deeper interaction with the woman you desire.

This is how I define a "good pick up line."

Coming in contact with a cute girl walking down the street...

So I am looking to buy a house and my buddy and I are driving around in search of a street we cannot find. I brought him along so he can give me his opinion on the house. As we aimlessly drive around the neighborhood we spot a blonde walking down the street. We couldn't really tell what she looked like but as we got closer we could see she definitely was cute. The weather was nice and, as a result,she was sporting a tank top and cut off sweats. We pulled up and asked her if she knew where this certain street was. She answered that she wasn't from around here that she had just come in from Chicago for the summer. She had nice size breasts and a flat stomach. I would say 110 lbs. She even had a tongue ring. Hot little body. Well, I asked her who she had come with. She said she was here with her uncle but that she was staying with her aunt. I was busting on her a little bit because of her accent saying that you could definitely tell that she was from Chicago. I again asked her who she was here with. I was trying to see if she had come with a boyfriend or not. She told me that her uncle had come with her but that he was leaving in a couple of weeks. I said to her, So, you don't know anyone here?" She responded, "No, I don't know anyone here." At that point my heart started racing because I knew that there could be a chance that I may have something here. My friend is very good at picking up on women but since he was on the other side of the car he was at a logistical disadvantage. At any rate, I continued with the dialogue. I asked how old she was because she looked young. "Twenty", she responded. I said so you can't even drink yet. My buddy asked her when she turns 21. She said June 7th. I then asked her if she has anyone to party with. She said no. Okay, at this poing there were like a million things running though my head including my friend urging for me to get her number under his breath. Giver the circumstances, I decided the best approach was a direct one. I said to her, "Well , let me get your number and we'll hang out." She responded with the words that every guy hates, "No, it's okay, I have a boyfriend." I didn't stop there. I said "Yeah, but he is in Chicago" hoping that she would agree. She didn't. "I can't, I have a boyfriend." My friend wanted to keep asking her questions, hoping that she would give in. I ended the conversation by telling her to have a good day. I felt there was no reason to continue at the risk of looking creepy.

Man, I lost that one. After talking about it with my friend and doing my own reflecting I came to the conclusion that a couple of things were wrong with the situation. For starters, we were TWO guys in a car and she was a single female walking down the street. That might have turned her off. Secondly, I didn't have sufficient time to establish an emotional connection with her since I was in a car and she happened to be walking by. My friend and I decided to get some food after watching the UCLA vs. LSU basketball game the night before and drinking entirely too much. We decided last minute to go to this local Mexican joint as opposed to Jack in the Box. In order to do so, we needed to cut through this do-it-yourself car wash. As we approached the car wash, I happened to look up and see this cute blonde vacuuming her car. I said to my friend, "Check that chick out." He looked up and stopped the car right next to where she was vacuuming. I guess his hang over wasn't as strong as mine because I thought he was going to drive right on by. Great move. He got out and opened his hatch and proceeded to pull out a bag of trash. As he walked over to toss it in the trash can he said over the loud sound of the vaccuum, "Hey, you want to do mine next?" I think she thought he said something else because she said, "I'll move it in a minute." My buddy reiterated what he has said. She of course laughed but it was sort of a nervous laugh. I am sure it isn't everyday that someone starts a converstation with her while she is sweating and feverishly vacuuming her car. She moved around to the other side of car where I was sitting in the passenger's seat frothing from the mouth fighting the nausea that was creeping up. My buddy kept the "fluff" talk going by asking where she worked. She said where she worked and my friend asked her if she had a card. She said that she did not but that she could give him the company phone number. She was being nice but obviously not interested. Keep in mind that she kept moving around trying to undo the extension cord from under the tire, etc., as my friend was trying to talk to her. Then he mentioned something that she could "relate" to. A ha. He told her that he tried "Irish Car Bombs" for the first time last night and that we were hung over. Her eyes lit up like the Christmas tree in Times Square. "No way! Aren't those awesome?" She proceeded to give my buddy a high five. They talked about how and where they each partied the night before and what she had to drink. They were starting to vibe about something they both had in common. My buddy continued the kinoing by touching her shoulder and she reciprocated. She started to tell us why she had broken up with her boyfriend and that she had moved back because he was a"jerk" and "total loser". After we were both consoled her and told her she could do much better, haha, I decided to throw in a time constraint. Mind you we couldn't shut her up after we got her going but I had to add some value. I asked her if she had a "myspace" account which to me is the new, "Can I get your email"? She was totally excited and kept saying how her had her friends were always on that thing. I said that was cool and that I would add her as a friend. I was ready to move on. My friend took it a step further and asked her to join us for breakfast. She said she was all sweaty and stuff as she pulled her sweats down a little exposing her star tattoos. Whoa! She asked if we could exchange numbers and asked if we could meet up later for some drinks. She asked for our numbers. Sweet! We agreed to meet up for some drinks. I have been telling my friend for some time now about the rules of attraction and how they work. I am telling you right now that my buddy is a natural when it comes to this stuff. He did everything he was supposed to do but didn't really know the how behind it. I am learning the how behind it and trying to make every guy I know more successful with women.
